Prior to starting my own carpet cleaning company over 25 years ago, I had worked for another company which charged $4.95 per room. Then as technicians we were expected to try and sell "the extra package" and inflate the prices. Being a man of strong integrity this practice left a bad taste in my mouth. The owners of this specific company were trying to start a chain in Tulsa with their main office head-quartered in another state. Several months after being hired I was asked to come inside and manage the office and do the scheduling so they could return to their other store. It wasn't long before venders were not getting paid by the owners and they were no longer returning my calls. Many of the men working in the Tulsa office and I decided we had better cut our losses and that is when I decided to strike out on my own. I have never looked back. Having worked for a company with such little regard for their customers made me want to strive all the more to have a company that put the customer first. I would not have customers, but clients.
