Longhorn Trucking Co., Inc. was founded in 1984 by Edward G Logan. After acquiring 6 tractor trailers thru a deal with a local bank, Mr. Logan rented garage space for maintenance on his equipment and operated out of a small home office. In 1989 purchased land on State Highway 5 and constructed a new truck terminal with offices and a repair shop.Founded Capital District Salt in 1998 and also became the handler for Cargill Salt’s Port of Albany stockpile location.In 2001 Mr. Logan built a covered salt storage building in Fort Plain, NY. This building is capable of holding just over 100,000 ton of deicing salt. During this project a scale house and a sixty foot electronic scale was installed.
