Jamie D. Underwood is a partner and global IP strategist in Latham & Watkins’ International Trade Commission (ITC) and Intellectual Property Practices. Jamie uses her first chair experience to help complainants, respondents, and third parties resolve investigations before the ITC and associated matters before Customs and the Federal Circuit. She has advocated for clients in over 50 Section 337 actions involving a wide range of products and industries, and also as an expert in ITC-related arbitration.Jamie has lectured on ITC law at Georgetown University, the University of Baltimore, and Catholic University. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and, for the last several years, has participated on the global stage as an NGO delegate to multiple WTO Ministerials. Jamie is also at home in federal trial and appellate courts, where she has handled disputes involving IP, antitrust, and complex commercial questions. In addition, she has worked pro bono before Immigration Court, DC District Court, and the United States Supreme Court. Prior to joining Latham, Jamie was head of a multinational law firm’s Section 337 group, and, earlier, was law clerk to Chief Judge Frank Q. Nebeker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and to Judge Truman A. Morrison, III of DC Superior Court. During law school, Jamie gained exposure to thought leaders in international law through an internship with Hungary's Parliament, consultation for the War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and a Dean’s Fellowship supporting a book on the constitutional courts of Central/Eastern Europe. She also prosecuted domestic violence cases at DC's US Attorney’s Office as part of a top-tier clinic.
