When BJ and Becky Dumond opened their first Simple Simon’s Pizza location in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, in 1987, they didn’t know a lot about operating their own business. But they did know one thing: they wanted to work together. Their first Simple Simon’s Pizza location was the start of a dream to own their own business and to build that business together, as a family. BJ and Becky scraped together what they could, and, with a lot of uncertainty, took a huge leap of faith to open their very first franchise. With a lot of patience, learning, and grace, the Dumonds learned the ropes and grew from novice franchisees to savvy business owners. Lee's Famous History A little about us Since 1966, Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken has been cooking up legendary flavor. Our famous recipe chicken is never frozen. It's hand-breaded, honey-dipped and pressure-cooked to make it the best tasting chicken around. And we do it all at prices that are as famous our food. The Muskegon, Michigan locations have been owned and operated by Rick Puthoff since 1975. Mr. Puthoff and his restaurants have won numerous awards over the years for their outstanding service and great food.

Ray Kroc wanted to build a restaurant system that would be famous for providing food of consistently high quality and uniform methods of preparation. He wanted to serve burgers, fries and beverages that tasted just the same in Alaska as they did in Alabama. To achieve this, he chose a unique path: persuading both franchisees and suppliers to buy into his vision, working not for McDonald’s but for themselves, together with McDonald’s. He promoted the slogan, “In business for yourself, but not by yourself.” His philosophy was based on the simple principle of a 3-legged stool: one leg was McDonald’s franchisees; the second, McDonald’s suppliers; and the third, McDonald’s employees. The stool was only as strong as the three legs that formed its foundation.
